Celebrate World Water Day and your school could win!

FEDCO is a local Monroe business that designs, manufactures, and globally sells water pumping equipment used in the process of seawater desalination (conversion of salt water to usable freshwater). We desire to support the education of schoolchildren on water scarcity and the importance of water conservation. Thus, we encourage local Monroe County Schools to participate in the World Water Day 2025 contest.

World Water Day 2025 has been designated as March 22, 2025. International World Water Day is held annually to focus attention on the importance of freshwater. The theme for World Water Day 2025 is ‘Save Our Glaciers.’

Keeping in mind how challenging it can be for elementary school kids to artistically represent a complex idea like “Save Our Glaciers,” we’ve decided to make it simpler and more enjoyable for them this year. The new theme is “Animals Love Clean Water,” which is easier for the kids to work with and still promotes an important environmental message.

Every year, UN-Water — the UN’s coordination mechanism on water and sanitation — sets the theme for World Water Day. In 2025, the focus is ‘Save Our Glaciers.’ Glaciers are critical to life – their meltwater is essential for wild animals, drinking water, agriculture, industry, clean energy production, and healthy ecosystems.

Rapidly melting glaciers are causing uncertainty to water flows, with profound impacts on people, animals, and the planet. https://www.worldwaterday.org/
