BWRO Interstage Boosting

The HEMI, used between brine stages, provides:

• Balanced 1st & 2nd stage flux
• Reduced 1st stage feed pressure (i.e. reduces feed pump energy)
• Reduced permeate TDS
• Extended membrane life due to reduced over-fluxing potential
• Perfect control of interstage pressure boost by simple control signal
• Delivers design boost even if brine energy is less than predicted (no risk)
• With optional Regenerative VFD, recovers excess brine energy and turns into electrical power that is fed back to the power supply
• Recovers reject energy from nano pre-treatment membranes
• Pressurizes filtrate to required pressure for BWRO

2nd Pass Repressurization

• 1st pass reject energizes 2nd pass feed pump
• Permeate balance tube eliminates need for buffer tank
• Excess brine energy can be converted to electricity

Multiple Trains and a Single LP-HEMI

• LP-HEMI is configured as an electrical power recovery turbine using a regenerative VFD with two brine connections
• Each brine inlet is independently controlled allowing each brine stream to be maintained at its own optimal flow and pressure
• Greatly improved economics of BWRO energy recovery
• Every configuration of the LP-HEMI can have one or two brine connections
