Hybrid Centralization Configuration

Intended for large SWRO systems, hybrid centralization concept combines the best aspects of the three-center design and conventional train configurations including:

  • Feed pumps of any capacity and quantity feed a common feed header
  • Each train equipped with an HP-HEMI
  • The HP-HEMI raises the feed pressure to the membrane requirement
  • Membrane pressure and recovery are precisely controlled by the HP-HEMI regardless of variations in the common feed manifold
  • Each train can operate at a different pressure and recovery as set by the plant operators for maximum production and/or minimum energy consumption or to accommodate various states of fouling or membrane characteristics
  • Easy to add or remove trains from production to meet capacity or maintenance requirements without disturbing operating trains
  • Each train is independently controlled; no centralized control required for train operation

Several main HP pumps

  • Runs at constant speed (no VFD) and medium pressure
  • Single stage for low cost/max efficiency

5-6 trains equipped with HP-HEMI

  • Each train under independent control for optimal feed and brine flow pressures
  • 200 kW motor and VFD on each train
  • No feed throttling
  • Dynamic addition and removal of trains
  • Extremely simple and reliable control
  • Each train operates at an independent pressure and recovery as required for optimal performance

Each membrane module can operate at independent pressure and recovery. Able to easily add/remove trains from service without disturbing operation of other trains. Usually displays the lowest specific energy consumption of any ERD. About 10,000 m3/day per train.

Below is a decription and illustration of the Hybrid Centralization Configuration for a 50,000 m3/day system.
